Une Pause

A nourishing space for reflection, expression and intentional living.

Here’s the answer to your question, why do people hide their emotions?

Because once tapped, they take on a life of their own.

The pure act of emotions surfacing is a healing, yet taxingly powerful form of rebellion.

Rebellion against a society that values order, productivity, structure and timeline.

Emotions essentially laugh in the face of all that and say “to hell with it – we’re feeling a deep shade of red today, and we’re going to surrender to the experience – timelines be damned.”

That doesn’t fly well with our society; it doesn’t reward those who feel deeply, which is a pity because feeling deeply – once experienced and if allowed to hollow us out – is a sacred, controlled burn that takes away the old and opens up space for the new.

But gotta allow for a bit of unwieldy destruction first.
